Federation square roundabout was originally built small vehicle traffic movement; it was redesigned by the council for higher occupancy of vehicles and AWS Services undertook the roundabout upgrade works.

The old roundabout was demolished, existing concrete surface in reduced sections was excavated to prepare a new surface and concrete kerbing to lower section of the proposed roundabout.
